I just got off the phone a few moments ago with Arnold. Jason asked him to call me to let us know that Swingfest is canceled.

I am disgusted that mine and Allie's name were associated with this event. We had such a good time at Swingfest in 2008 and were really looking forward to seeing our friends again.

I was told that Jason will be personally calling each attendee over the weekend and their website will reflect the cancellation on Monday, July 19th.

I'm sure many of you have questions as to why this happened? In this modern era of social media and Public Relations a company will try to "spin" a disaster to the best of their ability in their favor. I'd expect Swingfest to do the same. That's how the game is played. Problem is, this disaster involves my reputation and my friend's time and money. So, yes I am angry.

Arnold though, to his credit, did not sugar coat it for me and was very honest and frank about the situation. From what he told me, the reason for the cancellation is a disagreement between the hotel and Swingfest. If you are an attendee then you must have seen the letter that Jason sent out last night. Suffice to say, the hotel must have received a lot of calls from confused guests.

There is a lot more to this story but I'm a little rushed for time at the moment but wanted to get this up so that those of you who are attending can make other plans and start the process of canceling/refunding your credit card payments.

If you guys have specific questions, post them and I will do my best to answer.

Too much drama for this Swinger,

John

Wow, all I can say is my gut is rarely wrong and I am so glad I trusted it on this one.  I am sorry if some of my comments in the Swingfest changes hotel thread made some people upset since they knew the people who put this event on but it needed to be told.  I have had a couple of conversations with the sales manager at the Ramada and I truly believed everything he told me for why it was canceled there the first time.  I really think that with people already having bought their plane tickets, taken time off of work, booked rental cars, etc, that the people running the event should have been eager to work something.. anything out even if it meant they were taking a loss.

Miami is a far drive but by far the best clubs in Florida are Miami Velvet in Doral (right outside of Miami) and Trapeze in Ft. Lauderdale.  Both will be a long drive for those flying in to Orlando but guaranteed to have fun and party at one of the top clubs in the U.S.  Both are very upscale, posh and clean and filled with sexy people having a great time.

I am so sorry to all of those of you who lost out on money and time on this event and I truly hope you all still have a great time while you're here in Florida.  We live in Tampa and will be making the drive to Miami that weekend.
