WHITE WATER RAFTING IN JUNE 2010

I have previously twittered about this but am posting it here. I would love to find 5 others (probably could not talk mrs. mpls into it) to meet in colorado to raft the upper animas for a 2 day trip sometime in the first half of june. The river runs from Silverton Colorado down to Durango and as an added plus you can ride the Durango Silverton Train. I am probably going to camp near there and would love to find a group that would be interested in going. A boat holds 6 so need 5 willing participants. This run is adults only too do to the technical nature of the run. Oh yeah I turn 40 in June so its sort of a birthday ... i lived to 40 lets do something wild and crazy kind of thing.

The Rapids look like fun. We might be interested. Let's talk about it @ Desire. Ms. Sailing luvs the Whitewater. You could bring Mrs Mpls and she could raft the SPA at the hotel.

Hmmm...

We live in CO, so this is not all that far for us. I have hiked in that area (many years ago) and done some off-roading there, but never rafting.

I would probably be up for it, depending on the exact days.

Concurr with the bringing it up again at Desire. I will have a better idea of how my summer will look around then.

As an aside, the area and towns (both Silverton and Durango) are quite nice to visit, even sans the outdoor activity.

Wow, totally love the idea. Don't know if we could swing the vacation days, though. We have done day whitewater rafting trips, and have talked about the overnight. We have rafted in Colorado a long time ago, and most recently on the Ocoee in Tennessee, and that was fun.  Would look forward to talking about details at Desire. You should call a meeting in the Hot Tub, and we can discuss over body shots. LOL

Carol and I love whitewater. We kayak and raft quite a bit. Not planning on going West this Summer though.

We've always wanted to put together  a hot overnighter!

Definitely will have to look into that as well there is some great water in the east for sure! I remember seeing the Upper Animas as a kid riding the train and then I read about the 2 day class 4 and 5 water in Outside magazine. Wanted a real challenge for my 40th.

If everyone here is interested we got a full boat.  Would be a hell of a good time.
